0525 Chase - HP Everywhere, Then a SurpriseWell... it was a tough chase. Best dynamics in northern panhandles, CAPE and frontal
convergence much farther south. We were near Lubbock when the whole area exploded into
rapidly evolving into HP supercells. No tornados were seen, and we managed to dodge all of
the hail successfully. Nothing photogenic, so no photos of all of that. On the drive back
to Amarillo, everything exploded again, along a ENE-WSW line right through Amarillo. From
near Plainview we saw what looked like dixie-cup shaped extrusion suddenly appear from the
top of the anvil of a storm to the north. Very odd. We really don't quite know what to
make of it... So... that's the one picture for today: NEXT |
