Storm Chase Page

This is a collection of pictures I took last year while tornado chasing in the mid-west with Matt Crowther and Betsy Abrams.

(104K) Circular arrangement of mammatus clouds near Wichita Falls, Texas during nearby tornado activity.

(66K) Linear arrangement of mammatus clouds near Wichita Falls, Texas during nearby tornado activity.

(48K) Supercell near Mexican border in west Texas. No tornado seen.

(46K) Wall Cloud (??) in NE Texas.

(62K) When you go tornado chasing, sometimes you get in too much of a hurry. This picture was taken about 15 miles north of Wichita Falls, Texas on May 29, 1994. The cloud in the background is a supercell just south of Wichita Falls, about 20 minutes before producing the first tornado in a series of 6 that evening. Needless to say, we didn't quite get there in time.

By the way, this picture is actually a composite of two other pictures (41K), but the meaning doesn't change.

(38K) My chase companions, Betsy Abrams and Matt Crowther.
