More on The Saddam Video
Thu March 20th, 2003 20:37 MSTAs I mentioned in the preceding article, there is considerable suspicion about Saddam’s TV appearance shortly after the massive attack on his suspected location.
The theories on the news networks are:
- The video was made before the attack, and Saddam’s fate is unknown.
- It wasn’t Saddam in the video, it was one of his doubles.
- It was made after the attack, and Saddam was shaken up.
The first, that it was made before the attack, is illogical. In the video, Saddam does not have his normal TV appearance - he is wearing glasses, his face looks wrinkled, his uniform is poorly fitting, and he is reading from a note pad. A video made before the attack would have Saddam looking his best and speaking without visible notes.
The second theory is that a body double made the video due to the death or serious injury of Saddam. To me, that’s the best explanation. The fact that the administration is still investigating (in spite of leaks that the person was verified as Saddam) adds some weight to this. However, many others seem to have a different opinion, so it’s worth looking at the third theory.
That theory posits that the tape was made after the attack (even though the attack wasn’t mentioned), and that Saddam’s appearance is due to his being shaken up and/or hurried. If this is really Saddam, he should have had plenty of time to calm down, dress well and memorize the speech or speak extemporaneously. The only way that this theory holds water is if Saddam feared imminent loss of political and military control.
Conclusion
My conclusion is that either Saddam is dead or disabled, or:
- His control of even his most loyal forces is very fragile, and
- He was seriously shaken by the attack, and narrowly escaped, possibly losing important subordinates.
[UPDATE: Dana Priest of the Washington Post reports that US intelligence believes that Saddam was in the target when the missiles arrived, and are not certain wether he was killed, injured or escaped.]

Im happy that Saddam has been captured.
Her daughters in asylum in JORDAN, said they want his father to be in an international court.
Why? you think it is a susy? no hell no, that crying guy is the real Saddam.
It aint another Hollywood movie by Bin Laden, this is real, his familly are concerned, they can see the tears of his father, they can say “yes it is our father”. Also CIA has samples of real Saddam DNA, yes they have since they collected it from Saddam-sex-house? ever seen his sex house? painted in pink? with nude girls painted in the wall.
Yes there the CIA found pubic hair of the real Saddam.
Yes they compared those DNA with the captured Saddam and yes it is him.
Need more proof?
stop watching aljazeera…oh christ, even in Aljazeera you can see Saddam daughters crying, telling to world not to ‘hurt’ their father.
Honestly i am happy that Saddam was captured alive.Infact,i gave thanks to God that he coundt kill himself before he was captured.Justice must take it course on Saddam and his lieutenants.But it should be noted that president Bush himself is not all that clean when it come to committing crimes againts humanity.
