Old Europe Meddles Again

Sun April 27th, 2003 23:48 MST

A war crimes complaint will be filed in Belgium shortly against Gen. Tommy Franks and other U.S. warriors. If this results in arrest warrants, any of those individuals setting foot in Belgium could be arrested. In reality, this is one more attempt by Old Europe and the UN internationalists to hobble the United States and force us to only operate under UN approval.

What a surprise! We could never have guessed.

It is no longer possible for the forces of good to take any action without threats from the emasculated Old Europe. Everything must be to a perfect standard that cannot be met, and must be approved in advance by Old Europe bureaucrats along with their dictator friends in the United Nations.

The Bush administration has reacted angrily and threatened Belgium with “diplomatic consequences” if a court takes up the complaint. This is appropriate, but not enough.

Sometime in the future, when the US has the inevitable internationalist touchy-feelie leftist government, those same officials could be in personal jeopardy. Following the precedent of the Pinoche case, the officials could be arrested in some other country - perhaps Britain - based on a warrant issued by a single judge in Belgium (or Spain, or wherever).

We should have laws requiring the administration to take severe measures against any country attacking our officials or former officials for actions taken while in service of the United States. The United States is the world’s hegemon, making us the favorite target of terrorism. We cannot adequately defend ourselves if our officials have to constantly fear legal persecution.

Iran - Already Busy in Iraq

Sun April 27th, 2003 00:44 MST

The rise of a democracy in an adjoining mostly Shi’ite country is a terrible threat to the unpopular ruling Ayatollahs of Iran. They are already trying to keep down a restive population which hates them and wants freedom.

Now they must subvert the coalition occupation of Iraq and thwart our goals of creating a democratic society. We can expect recruitment and radicalization of Shi’ites, terrorist attacks against coalition troops, guerrilla warfare against the coalition and later Iraqi forces, and provocations designed to turn the Shi’ite populace against the coalition.

Islamofascist clerics will try to hijack the political future of the Shi’ites. They have hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Shi’ite exiles who will return to Iraq. Many of these are now active agents of Iranian intelligence. Iran also has a highly competent intelligence service, and access to cooperative suicide terrorists. All in all, it has substantial resources for waging asymmetric warfare against the coalition, moderate Shi’ites, and all other ethnic groups in Iraq.

Already, there have been ominous events (Read On)…

The Iranian Gotcha

Tue April 22nd, 2003 23:56 MST

Now that we have won the war, another is about to start. Iran (the Islamofascist government, not the people) is very unhappy that we are in Iraq. Furthermore, it has territorial designs on southern Iraq, including the oil fields and the shipping terminals.

Iran’s goal will be to drive us out of Iraq before we can create a stable government, or to undermine whatever government we are able to build. They will do this through terrorism and guerrilla warfare. They have long had agents within the Iraqi Shi’ites, especially in the south.

We are already seeing Shi’ite demonstrations that are anti-American. These are surprisingly well organized given the short time available. Iran is undoubtedly behind some or all of these.

Soon these demonstrations will cease to be peaceful. Americans may have to fight and even kill Shi’ite demonstrators. Palestinian tactics, with suicide bombers or attackers may be employed. The Islamofascists of Iran are willing to sacrifice as many of the innocent as needed (see below).

The question arises… how does the US combat this?

First, notice that we are not happy having Islamofascists running Iran. Also notice that we have troops on two sides of them, an ally on the third, and a huge Navy on their coast. Note that the Iranian people would also like to get rid of the Islamofascists. Finally, note that we are engaged in a global war of pre-emption, and Iran is already on the list.

Thus we can advise Iran that if we have too much trouble in Iraq, the Islamofascists are going to have even more trouble in Iran. Their favorite projects (nuclear weapons and missiles) will explode one night. When popular demonstrations arise against their government, those demonstrators this time will be well armed. A few mysterious deaths of leaders may occur. Sabotage may cause the government to look incompetent, triggering uprisings.

It is a high stakes game. Our goal is to transform the Arab and Persian societies so they no longer threaten us with terrorism. This is a matter of pre-emptive war, as Iraq found out. We have amazing conventional and nuclear military power at our disposal, but there are major consequences of their use. We also have significant scruples in the means that we will use.

The Islamofascists, be they Wahabis (Saudi Arabia and Al Queda), Shia (Iran), or any other form, want power. They want to transform the world to one controlled by their version of Islam. They have no conventional military power, but are trying to obtain nuclear and other unconventional power. They also have absolutely no scruples in the means that they will use, as demonstrated when former Iranian president and influential cleric Rafsanjani said,
on Dec 14, 2002:

If a day comes when the world of Islam is duly equipped with the arms Israel has in possession, […] application of an atomic bomb would not leave any thing in Israel but the same thing would just produce damages in the Muslim world.

Iran is an enemy, obviously willing to stop at nothing. Iran will now wage unconventional war with us in Iraq. It is time for a regime change in Iran.

Politically Correct Peak

Fri April 18th, 2003 00:20 MST

Today was a sad day in central Arizona. One thousand people turned out for the funeral of Lance Cpl. Mike Williams, a Marine killed in Iraq. On 9/11/1991, Mr. Williams owned a small business. After the events of that day, Mr. Williams decided to help his country any way he could. Consequently, he sold his business and joined the Marines. Almost two years of difficult training and fighting later, Mike was killed in a firefight in Iraq while defending his country.

Mike was honored by a crowd of 1000 and was buried in Phoenix’s National Cemetary.

Five other Arizona servicepeople have been killed in Iraq.

Support the Military, Unless….

Fri April 11th, 2003 01:10 MST

Everett, Washington seems to believe in supporting the military, unless it messes up the view!

The Navy Times reports that a radar, crucial to our anti-ballistic missile system, has been rejected by the Everett City Council:

“In its resolution, the council listed several concerns regarding the proposed missile radar, including unknown health risks, environmental impacts, and the “negative visual impact to Everett’s waterfront.”

A Smoking Gun

Sat April 5th, 2003 17:19 MST

Everyone has been looking for the “smoking gun” of weapons of mass destruction.

It appears to have been found - the Euphrates has high concentrations of the mustard gas agent in it (along with cyanide). Cyanide by itself could be explained by industrial use, but not so with mustard gas. The most likely explanation is that a commander dumped it into the Euphrates so as not to be caught with it by the coalition.

This is solid evidence that Iraq had mustard gas.

Other pieces of possible evidence have also been found.

A bottle labeled Tabun was located. Tabun is an early generation nerve agent in the same family as Sarin (”G” series).

An MSNBC reporter, using a standard test kit, found traces of Ricin and botulinum toxin in a former Ansar Islam (Al Queda affiliated extremist group) area.

Gray cannisters that looked very suspicious (by TV) to former UN inspector Daniel Kay were found in a large weapons storehouse. Gray is normally a distinguishing color for chemical agents. The cannisters had what appeared to be a fill port and three dispensing ports, and was labelled in Cyrillic.

Danger and Insanity in Araby

Sat April 5th, 2003 14:56 MST

Humiliation seems to trump logical thinking every time. This is certainly the case in the Arab world today. The following quote from an article in The Telegraph makes that clear.

`The fact that Saddam has survived for 12 days is seen as a colossal success. Before the conflict, his star was falling in the Arab world, with few takers for his propaganda that he intended to liberate Palestine.

“But we are so desperate for an Arab hero after all our defeats on the battlefield and 50 years of humiliation that we will even turn that old criminal Saddam into a legend,” said an Arab banker.

Abdel-Bari Atwan, the often provocative editor of the London Arabic newspaper Al-Quds al-Arabi, said the Iraqi campaign had had an effect on the Arab world similar to the September 11 attacks.

The Americans had been surprised to find that the presence of foreign troops had awakened a sense of “patriotism and honour” among the Arabs. “They think that they can humiliate the Arabs all the time, and no one will answer back,” he said.”
