Two-Faced Democrats on Court Nominees

Today’s New York Times reports [free subscription required]:

Senator Seeks a Consensus in Replacing Any Justice

Senator Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont has urged President Bush to avoid a traumatic national battle over the Supreme Court by consulting with him and other leading Democrats before choosing a nominee, should a vacancy occur.

How generous of him! From the New York Times piece you would never know that these same Democrats have used an unprecedented filibuster to block several Republican nominees to lower courts – nominees who would win a majority vote of the Senate. You would never know that every vile accusation and lie possible has been used by those Democrats to derail those nominees.

The truth means nothing to modern Democrats. Neither does fairness, long standing process or the Constitution. Only winning counts. And as has been shown by the New York Times, it seems to share the same values… at least as regards the truth.

    You are absolutely correct on that, John. I have been living in San Francisco for four years, and this is a staunchly Democrat town. There is hardly such a thing as a liberal free gathering here, and as a result I have the opportunity to listen to a lot of their views.
    Views, indeed.
    It’s all about the “evil” Bush, and almost always according to rote. You can’t debate with them, because they have no arguments. You can’t make a point with them, because they’re not receptive to anything that might reflect positively, in even the most remote sense, on Bush(or anything that might depict the UN in a negative light).
    I voted in the last two elections, but I don’t think I’m even going to bother anymore. Starting weeks before I vote, I study all the propositions and candidates thoroughly, and I vote what I think is best for the city and its residents. I find that 1 in 10 results come out as I voted, which tells me I’m definitely not on the same page as the rest of these people.
    The things they vote in are irresponsible, to say the least, and reflect the liberal climate in this burg.
    It’s actually pretty scary, when you realize that San Francisco is the real life model of a society governed and peopled by liberals.
    Oh, if you know anyone who’s dissatisfied with the gender God issued him, recommend that he go to work for the City of San Francisco;
    One of the benefits of city employees here is a free sex change, the whole nine yards, the tab picked up by the city’s taxpayers.
