Monday Links

So many links, so little sleep (if I get 'em all in with commentary). 1) This blew my mind - from Across the Atlantic. I'm not much into current Europe news, so this was ALL news to me. 2) Venemous Kate reports on Gulf War illnesses, specifically ALS. ...

I live just a short distance from Whidbey Island NAS, and I thrill to the A6-E jets zooming about now and again. As I tell those who find it annoying, "That's the sound of freedom, baby!!"

In California, we have a state law that requires real estate agents to disclose to prospective buyers of houses in rural areas that farms smell bad. I fully expect it to be extended to requiring disclosure that air bases have airplanes, train stations have trains, and schools have noisy children.

No joke: residents in San Jose nearly forced closure of an airport that predated their houses by several decades, and people have successfully sued SFO in small claims court.

On the upside, we still have the Blue Angels coming to town in a few weeks to rattle the lefties.

When I was at field training (basic training for ROTC cadets) every time a military jet flew over my flight the TI would yell "What's that sound?" and we would have to yell back "The sound of freedom!" And we

We call it "The sound of freedom" in the Air Force. I actually miss it when we aren't near an airfield.
