Clark: The Perfect Democrat Candidate

Wed September 24th, 2003 12:58 MST

Democrats worship Bill Clinton, a candidate and president who certainly had “integrity and character” issues. Now they are falling in love with General Wesley Clark. And it appears he may have the same issues, if you believe his former boss, General Hugh Shelton, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:

“What do you think of General Wesley Clark and would you support him as a presidential candidate,” was the question put to him by moderator Dick Henning, assuming that all military men stood in support of each other. General Shelton took a drink of water and Henning said, “I noticed you took a drink on that one!”

“That question makes me wish it were vodka,” said Shelton. “I’ve known Wes for a long time. I will tell you the reason he came out of Europe early had to do with integrity and character issues, things that are very near and dear to my heart. I’m not going to say whether I’m a Republican or a Democrat. I’ll just say Wes won’t get my vote.”

[emphasis added]

With this going for him, how could any Democrat vote for another candidate?

Did we really think that the US MIlitary was a united block of thought? So far, I have been quite impressed with Gen. Clark. He certainly comes with impressive credentials. Does a man reach 4 star general without having alot on the ball? Let Gen. Shelton be more specific and risk libel charges if he be resolute in his convictions of Gen. Clark!

Clark had a relatively mediocre career until the Clinton Administration. His rapid rise started shortly after the use of his tanks to attack and kill the Branch Dividians at Waco. Clinton, a fellow Arkansan, named him commander in chief of USSOCOM and later SACEUR (Nato Commander).

Clark was relieved of his command (fired), a rare event at high levels of the military.

Clark stated:”I would have been a Republican if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls.”

Clark claimed that the White House ordered him to claim that 9/11 was tied to Saddam Hussein. He has changed his story on this incident a couple of times on questioning. He ultimately admitted that the call was from an Israeli-connected think tank’s office in Canada.

Clark ordered US forces to attack Russian forces in Kosovo - hardly a wise move. The order was ignored by a wise British subordinate.

Clark is widely despised within the military, and not just by high ranking generals, but also many of his former subordinates.

His British colleages in the Balkans gave him the nickname “Perfumed Prince.” Soldiers under his command reportly referred to him as “the Supreme Being.”

To illustrate his military expertise, he said, just before the most rapid military invasion in history, that a quick victory in Iraq was not going to happen.

Well, it certainly will make for an interesting campaign. As far as I can see, he is all the things that Bush is not; Bright, intelligent, articulate ,self-advanced without daddies’ name. Bush spent the first 4o years of his life being a loser coke head drunk, undergoing 4 business bankruptcies and only amassing his wealth with a sweet-heart deal with the Texas Rangers. Yes sir, my kind of Pres! Clark spent the Viet-nam years getting shot up . Bush spent his in the Texas Air National Guard and then got himself transferred to a mail unit in Alabama. but he never showed up for that assignment! Yessir, my kind of leader!
