How a Democrat Politico Thinks

MAD MADDY [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
Hannity and Colmes just replayed a segment from earlier on Fox during which Mort Kondrake relayed a conversation he had with Madeline Albright in a Fox green room. She asks, Do you suppose the administration has Osama bin Laden and will bring him out before the election? Kondrake said that he asked her if she was serious and she suggested it is a real possibility. She was our secretary of state.
Many have commented that anti-Bush Rage has driven insane those on the left. So when a Clinton’s Secretary of State wondered if Bush actually had Saddam and was hiding him until a politically opportune moment, one suspects she too has succumbed to this rapidly spreading disease.
But there is an alternate explanation. Perhaps she is merely projecting what her boss would have done. After all, we had the Wag-The-Dog attack on Iraq where the timing cannot be explained except by political considerations. Perhaps she, like so many of the presidential candidates, views our military and State Department as just one more privilege of office, to be used selfishly.
So which is it? Is Madeleine simply suffering from the current anti-Bush insanity, or is this revealing something deeper about how high ranking Democrats think?
Sadly, I’m afraid it’s both.
