The Insanity of Bush Haters
Sat February 21st, 2004 22:57 MSTI received the following argument in a mailing list. It shows how far Bush Haters will twist logic in their need to believe he is evil. This was in response to my questioning why Bush was considered a coward and thus was immoral in sending troops to fight, while Clinton was not a coward and it was okay for him to send troops to Kosovo. Read it and laugh (or vomit). By the way, this was from a member of Mensa and a Vietnam Veteran.
It’s not the sending of troops; it’s the refusal to fight in a war that you believe is a just and proper war. Clinton did not believe that Vietnam was a just and proper war, but Bush did–and apparently you do to.
So, Bush’s deliberate avoidance of going to Vietnam is the chicken part; his being a war monger is the hawk part. And with the exception of Rumsfield and Powell, his entire administration and the vast majority of his nationally known political supporters are chicken hawks.
As I not so gently explained to this person, this means that if Bush was against the war when he joined the Guard, then he is not a coward and is now qualified to send people to war. But if he was for the war, he is a coward. Furthermore, it makes 5,500,000 Vietnam Era veterans who did not participate in Vietnam into cowards also. On the other hand, war protesters were not cowards, because they didn’t believe in the war (one may need to use prohibited substances to fully grasp this argument).
I wonder what this makes Kerry… he claimed not to believe in the war, but went anyway and killed people, including civilians. Then he came back and was against the war, testifying falsely before the Senate that Vietnam Vets routinely committed atrocities and were butchers. Then he joined Congress, voted against the first Gulf War, voted for the second gulf war, and is running as an opponent of the war he voted in favor of.
Go figure!
It makes Kerry… problematic. (Its also, of course, emblematic of his positions on pretty much everything else: he has a position and a record that will both satisfy and at the same time piss off just about everyone.) Oddly enough, it means he is a man not likely to have had the courage of his convictions even at his finest hour; while serving honorably and admirably as a naval officer, we can only conclude that he did so against his “principles” (whatever they were) because there seems no evidence that he was not opposed to the war even while fighting it! It is impressive that his heroism in the course of a war which he clearly regarded as unjust and barbarous is… what he is putting forth as his principal qualification for the presidency!!!
Its a sad testament to the American people that this “quality” about him actually makes him a very formidable candidate.
—Clinton did not believe that Vietnam was a just and proper war—
Did Clinton believe that Kosovo was a just and proper war? If so, how so? I have never gotten a good argument out of the lefties to such questions.
—Bush’s deliberate avoidance of going to Vietnam is the chicken part—
If so, then Clinton’s avoidance of going to Vietnam, and Teddy Kennedy’s avoidance of going to Korea (1951-52) was also “the chicken part>>.
—his being a war monger is the hawk part.—
Just as Clinton’s being a war monger in Kosovo must have been his hawk part (but to no good cause).
—And with the exception of Rumsfield and Powell, his entire administration and the vast majority of his nationally known political supporters are chicken hawks..—
That is due to changing demographics. At one time, it was easy to find Civil War vets in our population, at one time it was easy to find WWII vets. But the military/civilian ratio is rapidly changing. In short, how many veterans surrounded Clinton? How many surround Governor Dean up in Vermont?
[NOTE from John Moore… I changed the < and >’s to dashes so the related clauses would show up]
Let’s lay off Senator Kerry until at least March 4th, OK? As in, keep your powder dry. If Edwards catches him then it’s just wasted breath. If Edwards doesn’t catch him, then we’re just shooting prematurely. Ixnay on the Errykay until he has the nomination, OK?
Well spoken Pedro. I’m an Aussie member of the VRWC and think John Kerry has already written the Republicans Election Campaign ads all by himself.
He’s a fish in a barrel waiting to be shot.
As a Mensan and Vietnam Vet who supports Bush and the War against Islamofacism, let me just observe that hate, like love, can be blind. One of the striking things you see from the inside of Mensa is the widespread emotional immaturity and rich fantasy life of many of its members. After listening to a Mensan argument, you can understand how Medieval scholastics got wrapped around the axle trying to determine how many angels could dance on the head of a pin.
Bush is an intellectual lighwieght who thinks God talks to him. It fills me with dread that he is leading us. He is the worst ever. I have never given money to the politician before this year. Now I want ANYONE BUT BUSH to be president and I am giving my money to make it happen.
What ever the issue, Bush is terrible. The worst.
bushhater
You are so typical. You don/t know that Bush is an intellectual lightweight, but your posting would indicate that either you are, or you are too lazy to do your homework.
Please vote for Nader.
When a Yale graduate doesn’t have a grasp of the English language I think it’s a safe bet to say the President is intellectually challenged. His own mother even said that he barely passed. Your only fooling yourselves wingnuts. This clown has got to go, the country has spoken.
Bush is a lying filthy rich asshole. We hate him because is destroying democracy.
Thanks for posting this
