France and the UN Defeat Terrorism in Syria

Mon March 29th, 2004 23:11 MST

Syria, a major safe harbor for terrorists and a chemical weapon armed country may be about to stop supporting terror and perhaps give up its WMDs.

This represents a triumph for the forces of diplomacy, especially France and the United Nations

From The Australian:

SYRIA has appealed to Australia to use its close ties with Washington to help the Arab nation shake off its reputation as a terrorist haven and repair its relations with the US.

Secret talks between the two nations have been under way for months but have become more urgent as rogue nations reconsider their role in allowing terrorists to thrive, in light of the US determination to take pre-emptive military action.

As is clearly shown above, the “peaceful way” is winning. The power of the United Nations and France to pacify the Middle East, end terrorist sanctuaries and eliminate WMD’s is obviously behind Syria’s new direction.

Just as diplomatic methods caused Libya to capitulate on the day Saddam was captured by the American invaders of Iraq, they seem to be working here also. The Bush practice of pre-emptive attacks is once again shown to be an immoral and illegal failure.

Clearly, Kerry is right and Bush is wrong about multilateralism, the UN and the French.
