Sadr’s Uprising - The Facts

And as you read this, raw intelligence from the field combined with analysis, you can see how wrong many of the criticisms have been and still are, because it includes the background and the planning to defeat Sadr, which has been going on for a long time, ver quietly and quite subtly.

Thanks so much for your post with the accompanying letter from the Front, this is just so GOOD to read! I’ve been hearing some good things from time to time lately on FNC, like a report on how the people of Najaf have been helping the Coalition troops find the bad guys, and a report a day or 2 ago that 1000 Iraqis were marching against Sadyr that day, either up to the gates of Najaf or inside the city, with a lot more to be marching in another day or so. But I had no idea of how long, or the extent of, our troops’ involvement,in the operation to get rid of this devil who feeds on his own. Someone described Sadyr this week on FNC as “Just picture him as Saddam with religion”.

John - Excellent post. A friend at work sent the letter to me today. The most interesting thing to me was the report that al Sadr’s Iranian mentor - indeed, nobody in Iran - is backing this guy any longer. Now he’s trying to play let’s make a deal; it’s my perception that we’ll politely decline his offer and tell him to turn himself in or suffer the same fate as his misled followers.
