Kerry in a Tight Spot
Wed August 4th, 2004 12:12 MST
Poor John Kerry
He’s found something scary
The lies he’s been telling
Just are not selling
And this new book is proving contrary.
The book is Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry by John O’Neill and Jerome Corsi. It gives the story of John Kerry in Vietnam and his subsequent shameful Anti-War career. Read this book and you’ll see why almost all Swift Boat Veterans detest Kerry and why almost 300 of them, including his entire chain of command pronounced him unfit for command, a historical (if poorly reported) event.
John O’Neill inherited Kerry Swift Boat after Kerry’s short tour. He debated Kerry in the early ’70s on nationwide TV.
Dr. Jerry Corsi is a historian who specializes in the Anti-Vietnam War movement.
August 04, 2004 A NATIONAL HEALTH CARE PLAN THAT MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK The brilliant Kerry Advisor Prof Brad Delong (who should be a Republican) in a very interesting analysis of Health Care finance. I think I agree with him as much I hate to admit it.
The plan seems to basically involve using the treasury as the reinsuror of last resort. The insurance companies act just as they do now but on all claims uop to $20,000 or something like that. Once a claim reaches that threshold the goverment then pays the bills as reinsuror.
Insurance premiums would be much lower so more people would be able to buy it. It actually sounds pretty good to me except that I would want the Republicans to design and implement it so it really works.

Another perspective on “The Four Months that Shook the World!”? Good. and ’bout time.
btw, I reviewed the Brinkley love-letter, “Tourist of Duty” (7/14/04).
Kerry’s health care plan doesn’t cut the costs on catastrophic health care, just spreads them onto the taxpayer. Yes, insurance premiums would go down in theory. Yes, the lowered premiums might get the healthy uninsured young to buy into the system, thus further reducing premiums. But overall health care spending would not go down, it would simply be spread to the taxpayers in general. Taxes would have to rise to accomodate the spending.
Every “health care reform” I see coming out of Washington has the same hallmark as this one — get more money from the healthy in order to spread the cost. Do nothing to reform the warped structure of a health care system that has rising costs built into it. If we’re going to go that route, let’s really bite the bullet and eliminate those inefficiencies built into the system, that 20%+ that is spent fighting over who gets to pay the bill, by going straight to single-payer. The half-ass approach is just a way of slugging it the taxpayer to gaurantee the insurance companies profits.
We have the finest for-profit health care system in the world. Not the finest at producing outcomes, but at producing profits. And that makes the health care industry the most powerful lobby on Earth. Don’t expect real reform as long as this is true.
Pot could significantly cut into the $40 bn market for anti-anxiety drugs.
Who do you think is in the lead in the Drug Free America campaign? Drug companies. Go figure.
We need to get government out of medicine.
REPORT FROM THE FRONT FINAL THOUGHTS – the Vietnam Veterans against Kerry demonstration at the DNC.
It’s now been a week since the Vietnam Vets serenaded John Kerry at the Fleet Center and in front of his house. The thing that amazes me the most is the degree to which the mainstream media has totally ignored our legitimate expressions of anger at the con job the Democrat National Committee was trying to foist on America so they could grab more power over us.
My wife, the fabulous Cindy, reminded me of PT Barnum’s favorite saying “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” The latter is what Kerry and his minions are trying to do to America this election season. Apparently they think us Vietnam Era Vets are senile by now and don’t remember his treachery that caused us to lose that war and denied us the honor we so richly earned.
I have this warning to the veterans of latter generations:
IF JOHN KERRY IS ELECTED, I PROMISE YOU HE WILL STEAL YOUR HONOR AS HE STOLE OURS.”
Back to our demonstration and march. The media was there outside the Fleet Center by the hundreds and I had hundreds of cameras in my face as we advanced our banner into their consciousness. I personally was interviewed perhaps twenty times and I saw numerous other comrades interviewed also. WHERE ARE THOSE TAPES? ARE THEY BEING HIDDEN ON PURPOSE?
I will say that Channel Five ABC in Boston did show brief snippets of our efforts Wednesday and Thursday on their eleven o’clock news and another guy handed my daughter a cell phone and a voice told her:
“You’re on the radio, how old are you?” To which she answered “Nine.”
He then asked “Why don’t you like John Kerry?” and she answered “Because he’s a liar and I don’t like his chin.”
But that was all I know of. Kerry can never win if we can get the word out that two thirds of all Vietnam Veterans dislike him intensely, but how are we going to do that if the media will ignore us?
The following links describe my experience those nights and a few pictures I took of the situation:

Judge a campaign by its advisors.
If Kerry is trusting the gigantic intellect of Ben Affleck for political advice, this says it all.
Affleck on TV reminded Kerry that he had “to enervate the base”. Did Affleck make it through his freshman high school English studies?
“Enervate” cannot be substituted for “energize”, because “enervate” as defined by Webster’s means
“to lessen the vitality of strenth of…” or “to reduce the mental or moral vigor of…”.
My own suspicion is that Affleck is a cunning Bush operative, a witless Hollywood drone (Drone-1) planted by the Republicans to advise a witless Senate drone (Drone-2) and therefore destroy the presidential aspirations of Drone-2.
This is just TOO easy. Kerry. What an idiot.
Kingsmill,
When a Hollywood copymachine making so much money by copying others’ behaviors and mistaking that as representative of intelligence, anything is possible. They must think the mass is stupid and need guidance. No wonder the elitists and the copymachines always find themselves in the same bed.
(Of course there are always exceptions, but they are not the norm)

I’m trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so I’ll know how to vote come November.
Right now, we have one guy saying one thing. Then the other guy says something else. Who to believe. Lemme see. have I got this straight?

Kingsmill,
Ben Affleck was right! “Enervate” was exactly the right word to use under the circumstances.
THE WHOLE POLITICAL GAME SEEMS JUST LIKE A BIG BUNCH OF NONSENSE..IT’S ASHAMED THAT EVERYONE WHO IS VOTING SHOULD KNOW THE WHOLE TRUTH BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN…WE ALL KEEP SAYING “GOB BLESS AMERICA” WOW WHEN ARE WE GOING TO REALIZE THAT GOD HAS BEEN BLESSING AMERICA FOR EVER AND EVER…DON’T WE NEED TO REALIZE THAT WE NEED TO STOP AND START BLESSING OUR BLESSED CREATOR BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE..WE’VE TAKEN HIM OUT OF SCHOOLS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENED…WE’VE PRACTICALLY REMOVED OUR HEAVENLY FATHER FROM EVERY ASPECT OF OUR LIFE AND WHAT DO WE THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN..IT’S NOT HARD TO FIGURE OUT FOLKS…JUST THINK WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF GOOD TOOK THE ‘h’ OUT OF H2O …VERY SIMPLE, WE WOULD ALL PERISH…LETS PRAY AND PRAY AND PRAY UNCEASILING TO OUR ALMIGHT GOD THROUGH HIS SON JESUS CHRIST AND THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL THIS COUNTRY AND THIS WORLD BE WORTH LIVING IN. THANK YOU FATHER FOR THIS TIME TO SPEAK WHAT MY HEART AND SOUL KNOW IS TRUE….LOVE TOMI
“John McCain criticizes attacks on John Kerry’s military service.” Or so read my evening newspaper.
Just what is it with John McCain, anyway? Is this guy the epitome of the milquetoast fence-sitter, or what?
And just why is it so ‘evil’ to go after the veracity of Kerry’s military record when he spends so much time touting it (and attacking Bush’s Guard service)? In fact, wasn’t it the Democrats who started this shit about who’s the ‘better war hero’?
Democrats will pay ultra-millions to Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep in order to scare folks into thinking Bush’s presidency some sort of a sinister plot; and in the very next breath they say nothing about people like McCain, a man who might just be the best canididate for the “Manchurian Candidate” we’ve had in a very long time.
I don’t give a flying flip if both Kerry and McCain are former naval officers, and they therefore feel obliged to uphold each other’s ‘gentlemans honor.’ The truth is the truth, and if McCain’s not gonna’ admit it–or help disseminate it–then he needs to get the f–k out of Dodge. I hate people who intervene in a righteous fight when they don’t truly understand the grievances of the wronged party.
Get the hell out of the way, McCain. The truth about Kerry needs spread. If you’re not part of the truth, you’re part of the lie!
More than a quarter of a year after my first post on this site, I still want to know: How, indeed, did Mr. Kerry earn so much hardware in so little time during river patrol duties? Three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star in 120 days. Think of the men who died doing great things in the field, in any war, and were never publicly recognized for their efforts.
Kerry oughta’ be shot for that kind of thing. Talk about stolen valor.
God bless the men who wrote the aforementioned books. God bless the vets who tell the truth. Someone tell me these men aren’t modern-day “Minutemen.”
God bless you people. Who would’ve ever dreamed you’d have to fight the Vietnam War a second time? Who would’ve dreamed that you’d have to fight a man who fabricated falsehoods in order to desecrate the valor of the American soldier? And this same man call himself a hero? And millions of his ardent cheerleaders in this effort constitute many who once chided the rest of us for even donning uniform?
Catch-22. Manchurian Candidate. ‘Military Intelligence.’ Truly the Democrats are the ultimate oxymoron.
Did hemp truly affect the nation to the extent that we’re no longer in a position to exercise even a modicum of reason?
In “The Sand Pebbles,” Steve McQueen lamented as he died: “What the hell happened?”
What did happen to this country, anyway?
I submit that we didn’t lose the war. Instead, we lost our sanity.
Rolf;
Your post is excellant, you say we are fighting this war a second time, yes that is true. But this time we are prepared. After we came back we were sucker punched and then kicked in the stomach, before we knew what had happened. by kerry and his sick cronies and I cant think of another word to describe it. They are all ’sickos’ and that includes Mccain, to go on national tv and whine about how nasty and dishonorable the ‘Swifties’ have been to john kerry well they know him best of all, and they all cant be lying, as I told the Senator in an E-mail I sent I didnt hear word one from Mccain when the assh*le democrats were calling the President a desserter and a slacker, no not one word from the Mccain group. I wish to
hell he would switch parties NOW and be done with it then he can whine all the time and everyone will know who and why he is whining, he whines because he is a democrat.
This time we are prepared for these basta*ds and we will win, our numbers are growing daily, they can only sucker us once the second time it wont happen.

The McCain Mutiny seems to have tipped one of several scales in this struggle with Kerry. I want to like him, but as someone said on another associated blogsite, in order to be a war hero, you have to be around for the war. McCain spent the war practicing his legendary stubbornness, which is of a different quality than what is required in twelve or more months of walking point, literally and figuratively. McCain knows this, but for a mental quirk, seems to have forgotten.
McCain gets high marks for perserverance in his long stay in Hanoi, but there are men among the Swiftboat officers who put in some pretty ferocious time, months and months of it, and McCain’s condemnation of them stinks like hell. Where does this injured but still pampered and privileged Punk get off criticizing men equal or better than he is?
Let it all hang out here. McCain was known as The Punk in his Naval Academy days, and but for an accident of history, he would just be another Navy pilot who served over Vietnam. Maybe a good one, maybe not, but certainly not the untouchable he is today. His war record and the fortified myth systems built around it are not the same.
Among the inexplicable features of the Bitch Goddess Fame is why McCain has the affection of the Left media, while other veterans do not. House Blabbermouth Chris Matthews praises McCain with the same line each time…McCain “went for me”, “McCain went and I didn’t”, or words to that effect.
Somehow McCain wound up going to Vietnam for all those Lefty journalists who love him, while I and my comrades apparently went for someone else, or no one. This is narcissistic bullshit on Matthews’ part, but that is a definition of The Left.
An old cliche: every monkey who climbs too high eventually shows his ass, and if this is too harsh, TOO BAD! It applies to McCain and Kerry and hundreds of others in this grim comedy called an election year. Rolf said it right. That war is being fought all over again, with the same stomach churning and frustrating effect it had the first time around. This time the stakes are even higher.
I sent McCain (my Senator) a FAX today asking why it was wrong for Vietnam Vets to speak out but okay for George Soros and Michael Moore.
I don’t expect a response.
God, I’m so very proud of everyone on this site. And I’m equally as proud of the men who’ve stepped forward–one of them a highly-decorated, retired Admiral–to present the truth about John Kerry.
I speak with scores of WWII and Korean War vets by the week: All are suspicious of Kerry’s Purple Hearts. I’ve 84-year old friends who got their PH’s the hard way, at Utah Beach, Bougainville, and in Italy. Growing elderly now, they’re easily discouraged by the type of behavior Kerry and his camp are exhibiting.
A Second Marine Division Scout-Sniper who’d campaigned at Guadalcanal, Betio, Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa, recently said: “Kerry probably got his Hearts’ the same way they decorated and promoted Kennedy for his senatorial bid in ‘53. It’s all a matter of money and political propaganda. It’s all about marketing and packaging.”
The saddest fact is this: Those who’re rapidly moving toward retirement–former ‘flowerchildren,’ diehard SDS, grizzled, embittered ‘Weathermen,’ and such–are now proclaiming ‘their man’–a man who publicly denounced his comrades, and threw away his medals–a ‘real war hero.’ Former hippies and high school pals who once shouted, “No More War!”–that is, people who once laughed at me for enlisting–now tell me privately, wistfully: “Wish I would’ve served!”
Apparently the effects of LSD are very long-lasting: It appears that many of it’s users are still under the influence of the stuff, more than 34 years after-the-fact.
Every last one of you were right: We’re fighting the Vietnam War a second time, and this time the stakes are far higher. A local minister suggested that we’re fighting for the soul of our country, and the man’s now being sued by ACLU-affiliated groups for ‘politicking from the pulpit.’
More than two-hundred years ago, our forefathers were similarly divided, Crown v. Colonist, Tories v. Sons of Liberty.
One of our foremost patriots asked of all: “Where stand ye, brothers, in this dire time of trial?”
Gee, Rolf: After that last post of yours, I feel so…well…”enervated.”
Rolf,
Correct in your observation that we’re divided as we were in the 18th century. Somewhere, perhaps on this blog, someone said we are divided today between September 10th and September 11th people.
September 10th people find the present uncomfortable and inconvenient, and are propelled by nostalgia, insecurity and the need to return to chattering about the same old (usually Lefty) obsessions.
No need to define them here; it’s just a world full of Bill Moyers clones. Lots of soft, self-regarding and directionless talk about nothing, no risk, no change, just the enervation of materialism, pacifism and pigheadedness. Very European.
September 11th people recognize the contour of the future, and are willing to plunge into it whatever the cost. They live in a continous world, clean their shoes of the past at regular intervals, know that we are in danger and accept that the world will never be the same again. Very American.
Bush and Kerry are actually incidental to these divisions, symbols for the different camps.
I agree with all of you, I will just be devasted if kerry gets in off… It’s so hard to except that there are so many people who call themselves Americans, but they can’t be. It’s like their inability to see this kerry criminal for what he really is, is so frighting.
Not to mention his monkey edwards, who is responible for drs. having to leave practice due to edwards causing the premiums to go up on malipractice suits. These two skerry and edwards have got to be the most ungodly men ever running on a presidental ticket. Correct me if I am wrong. I know clinton wasn’t good for the country either.
However, kerry would probably make clinton years look like a gift from the heavens if kerry is allowed to go in and do his damage.
kerry needs to be exsposed to the public-bad.he should be sent to france to live and he’s such a liar.never in my life have seen such a facade of a person.he has to lie to tell the truth which turns into another lie.if gets voted in-we will be over run by so much injust and terrorist will be running this country.he is not no war hero-just a big zero!!!!!

Ridicule. Denounce with innuendo. Distort or question intentions. Gay-bait. Shame. Lay blame.
The attacks on our Swift Boat friends are nothing more than Kerry Kamp’s efforts to take the heat off their golden boy. I’ve seen and heard enough misinformation from the media these last few days to make me wonder if the old guard from Pravda and Tass are running our media networks.
Even FoxNews is getting corrupted. In the leadin to the video of Jim Rassmann supporting Kerry for saving him, Fox states Rassmann SERVED DIRECTLY with Kerry in Vietnam, and the implication is that he should know Kerry better than all those Swifties who were only in the SAME UNIT WITH Kerry. To the uninformed Rassmann has solid credibility. The truth is that Rassmann never served directly with Kerry; Rassmann was an Army Green Beret not assigned in any way to Kerry’s crew. So much for truth in reporting.
Hearing analysts make statements like “Veterans support Kerry” or “His former Swift Boat unit supports him,” I cringe because so many people get the impression that Kerry is admired and supported by the majority of veterans and “Swifties” he served with. So when a few of Kerry’s old associates in the Swift Boats put out an ad that call him unfit to be President and CIC, they are vilified in the media and called ever name in the book. They are described as a few old malcontents who have an axe to grind and really never knew Kerry like his crewmembers. My, my, that must be true because even that stalwart of all senators, John McCain called them “dishonest and dishonorable!!”
We are witnessing once again a ritual that occurs every four years whereby every trick phrase, every illusion with smoke and mirrors, every photo op will be used by the media to embellish and glorify the deeds of their fair-haired candidate of choice. But this time, they won’t be able to crow-bar JFK #2 into the Oval Office, especially since all of us here and those at other veteran websites will have something to say about that.
The newest Democratic petard is this one: “None of these men [Swiftboat vets: that is, retired Admirals, numerous Bronze and Silver Star winners, several multi-tour combat vets, and at least one three-war combat vet] who criticize John Kerry, ‘were actually on the same boat with him.’”
Remarked one Swiftie: “I was within 25 yards of the man virtually throughout his four-month tour-of-duty.”
“Irrelevant,” say the media.
Rolf:
I don’t know. Kerry expects at least 25 yards distance between him and everyone else. It has something to do with lese majesty.
Mark Steyn describes a night in New Hampshire when he and another journalist were approached by Kerry, who stopped and glared silently at them for a few moments. No words, just an awkward silence until a Kerry knave appeared and said, “The Senator needs you to move”.
I gather Kerry could have actually WALKED AROUND THEM, but no, he couldn’t. Vassals move for Knights.
Was that the night he wore the plumed Musketeer outfit and buckled a few swashes?
