Don't Miss Behind the Scenes: Swift Boat Veterans vs. John Kerry

Big Bad John

Fri August 20th, 2004 18:08 MST

From Unkknown

BIG JOHN (KERRY)

Every mornin’ on the Hill you could see him arrive
Standing six-foot-four, weighing one-twenty-five
Kinda’ scrawny at the shoulders and lacking a spine
And when he spoke at all, it was mainly to whine.
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John.

Nobody seems to know what’s in John’s soul
His ‘beliefs’ are based on the latest poll
Though he’ll say what it takes to get your votes
It’s the leftist agenda that he really promotes
Big John.

Some one said he came from Boston town
Where he joined the Navy and gained renown
‘Earning’ three purple hearts and one bronze star
The home folks said, “This boy will go far”
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

Then came a day back in ‘71
When he renounced all the medals that he had won
Then turned against his country and his Navy friends
And sold them out for his own selfish ends
(Big John)

He appeared before Congress and on left-wing talk shows
Giving aid and comfort to America’s foes
It was clear to see whose side he was on
Some say he helped cause the fall of Saigon
Big John (Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John).

He claims to be for the working poor
Yet he owns 5 mansions from shore to shore
He never had to work a day in his life
‘Cause he learned it helps to have a wealthy wife!
Big John

Now he wants to be our next President
and Commander-in-chief of those he resents
The American soldiers who fight and die
To give him the freedom to tell us his lies
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

Thousands have sacrificed their young lives
To help ensure that our nation survives
A vote for Kerry is a slap in the face
To all the brave soldiers that he’s disgraced
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

It’s all war now and even it’s early, I feel that this is a war Kerry can’t win. He and his nihilistic friends in NYT, LA Times, CBS, ABC & CNN no longer have the communication medium for themselves as in the 70s. The nihilistic media will go the way of the dodo bird.

    Good song.

There is a really effective kerry/edwards sign that ’says it all’ about Kerry’s foreign policy goals - you can find it here:

I’m not sure where that originated either, but Prof. Braden, another vet worth knowing, posted it a couple or three weeks ago. My version, Big Sad John, is available at http://users4.ev1.net/~bdfaith/Op-Ed/Kerry/Big%20Bad%20John.htm.

After you look at the poster, follow the links to Tacitus’ discussion of Kerry’s plan for Iraq at redstate.org. [Tacitus parses a Kedward interview on NPR.] Basically, Kerry’s plan for Iraq is withdraw, regardless. Indochina is not enough. He’s determined to see America fail in Iraq and against Islamo-fascist terrorism in general.

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have stirred up the liberal hive. Yesterday’s Auth cartoon in the Phila. Inquirer shows an elephant labeled Swift Boat Veterans for “Truth” smearing black paint around, while W stands above it all.

The liberals’ opinion of veterans and any one who disagrees with them is beautifully revealed and deployed in today’s Inquirer. Pat Oliphant (not available on line yet; there seems to be three day lag after publication) shows a bar of Vietnam veterans disparaging Kerry’s medals. They are all fat, frowsty, feed-cap-wearing hicks with bad grammar. They were to a man, clerk-typists and latrine maintenance techs in ‘Nam (but I bet they didn’t bug out after 4 months).

Liberals’ refusal to address any issue on the basis of fact (that isn’t irrelevant or made up) and reflexive resort to personal attack is infuriating, but Kerry’s and the hive’s outraged cries are giving the SBVfT far greater exposure. As the man said, there ain’t no such thing as bad publicity.

The left is all for Free speech when it agrees with their perverted view. Any disagreement is viewed as ‘lies’, case in point is the Swift-Vets ad calling kerry what he really is, a traitor, self-serving, back-stabbing politician.
His defenders are out there now with the dem talking points trying to dispute the ‘Book’. Kerry will not dispute the book he knows he cannot, so he is going to try to intimidate the Swiftees by filing a law suit.
Strange is it not how Movedown dot orgy is telling the truth but the Swiftees all 200 of them are lying. Now they are trying to say it is a Republican Front, they wont be able to prove it, but the scare tactic is there just the same.
Personnally I dont see the Swifts backing down, and when they dont back down Kerry is ‘Toast’.
The T.O. for the Swifts, I figure, is a rifle Company size about 200 men all but a handful are opposed to Hanoi Johns bid to become president, why is this because they KNOW him best of all. They know what makes him tick and they also know that JOHN KERRY is UNFIT for COMMAND.

Maureen “the Queen of Mean” Dowd brazenly displays what she and her fellow Kerry Kool-Aid drinkers think of Vietnam Veterans.

I’m getting more and more outraged by the disrespect and downright hatred that these power hungry lefties are spewing on our comrades THE SWIFTBOAT VETERANS FOR TRUTH. I ask you:

Is it easier for an intelligent person to believe John Kerry and his handful of shipmates with whom he shared medallic spoils back in ‘Nam and God knows what else during his campaign; or the hundreds of comrades including his entire chain of command who call him a liar and a charlatan thus opening themselves and their loved ones to the unmitigated hatred and bilious slander from the elite media as typified by the following excerpts from Maureen the “Queen of Mean” Dowd..

WASHINGTON — It’s easy for the Bushes to stay gallant. They delegate the gutter…

…Just as the Bush campaign dragged out fringe veteran surrogates in South Carolina to slime the former P.O.W. for being antiveteran, now the stomach-turning Swift boat attackers are sliming a war hero as a war criminal…

…Charging on Thursday that Mr. Bush wants the Swift boat sleazoids “to do his dirty work,” Mr. Kerry reached for yet another Vietnam reference and water metaphor: “When you’re under attack, the best thing to do is turn your boat into the attack.”…

…The Times revealed that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth - is that like the administration’s Clear Skies Act for spewing pollution? …

…The Kerry camp knows the Swift boat snipers are hurting the Democrat and fears the Bush oppo campaign will soon move from tarnishing Mr. Kerry’s war record to dwell on his days as a shaggy-haired antiwar spokesman. The White House must tear down his heroism before it can tear down his patriotism…

What a longtime civil libertarian and columnist for the left-wing Village Voice has to say about John Kerry:

Hentoff: “Kerry in War Record Cover-up”

Longtime civil libertarian and columnist for the left-wing Village Voice, Nat Hentoff charged Sunday that the Kerry campaign is engaged in a transparent cover-up of the Massachusetts Democrat’s war record and an attempt to muzzle freedom of speech.

In an interview with WABC Radio’s Steve Malzberg, Hentoff noted that the Pentagon has responded to a Washington Post Freedom of Information Act request for Kerry’s full military file by turning over just six pages of their 100-plus page dossier, with a spokesman explaining that Kerry himself wouldn’t authorize the release of the full file. Kerry has also refused to turn over diaries that the candidate kept during his Vietnam service, with the campaign insisting that an exclusive agreement with Kerry boigrapher Douglas Brinkley for his 2003 book “Tour of Duty” prevents any further disclosure.

But Hentoff said he wasn’t buying that excuse, telling Malzberg, “I have done biographies of John Cardinal O’Connor and A.J. Muste and I’ve never heard of that kind of agreement.”

“The question is, what is Kerry trying to hide?” said the Village Voice writer. “He claims he’s interested in the truth. If he’s interested in the truth, then release the records.”

Hentoff said he’s astounded at the media’s response to the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, whose eyewitness accounts have catapulted the issue of Kerry’s war record to the top of the campaign agenda.

I can’t recall ever seeing such distortion of the motivations and the witnessing of these more than 200 Vietnam veterans,” he complained.

Of Kerry’s efforts to muzzle the Swiftvets by threatening lawsuits against TV stations who carry their ads, Hentoff sais, “This tells you something about how a President Kerry is going to handle dissent”.

Americans, “listen up”—This wasn’t said by a right-wing spokesperson, or a Republican—this was stated by a left-wing columnist who is a civil libertarian.

With all the stuff being said about whether kerry did and did not do I think one important item has been left out . That is his well known association with Ms. Hanoi Jane Fonda, his sister in crime and treason.
Let us not forgot the whole picture here. which I think is really important which the liberals will not touch with even with kerrys 10ft pole.

    Mark;

You are so right-none of the libs or Leftys will touch that with a 10 ft pole! And it just so happens that Hanoi Jane is back at it again now, supporting him again publicly. There was a column in last week’s report of the “Left Coast Report” (put out by NewsMax.com) that stated she was going around staging rallies for “you know who” and registering young women to vote. She’s calling these rallies (and I kid you not) “Vagina Votes for Kerry”.

Just heard from another board that the DNC has issued a statement that kerrys first PH may have been issued in E-R-R-O-R… Hmmmm their hero is coming apart like the old proverbial straw dog.

  11. comment number 11 by: mark

    Sharon;
Is that right ? This has got to be NOT what kerry wants at this time. This is beautiful, dont cha love it when a plan comes together. She will NOW sink his ‘boat’.
The thing is kerry is trying to sell himself as a Real American, a real hero, and virtually change his image.
Hanoi Jane has but one image and that is traitor and giving aid and comfort to the enemy. So if she is out there lauding her brothers’ efforts , ie Hanoi John ( since they both have the same first name te heh) This just might be the impetus needed to knock him over.
If I am reading the American People right they are not going to stand for another (Vietnam treatment of her soldiers, from Emails to letters I see where the American People have gone out of there way for the common grunt and to show their appreciation) So if Mess Fonda persists I would be willing to bet that this whols sham of theirs is coming crashing down.

    Vagina Votes for Kerry?

There are so many possibilities with this one, all of them so bad that I’ll leave it alone, for now.

Whenever you think you’ve seen most of it (not everything), something like Kerry comes along and changes the equation. The Kerry buffoonery has spread faster than Michael Moore’s gelatinous face.

Has the rock vermin metaphor ever been so perfect…pick it up, all sorts of things crawl out. The amazing Tom Harkin, claiming to have fought MIGS over VN when he never got closer than Japan. Kerry’s dimwitted action figure, Ben Affleck. The seriously weird Manhattan deli rodent Howard Dean doing his paranoid crusty Vermonter routine. (Squint your eyes a bit and Dean looks something like a mink, with that twitching nose, those beady eyes, onion shaped head, suppressed overbite and prominent incisors). He reminds me of Shredder. Can this sideshow get any worse?

Yes. Jane Fonda. Mark is almost certainly right. Can Kerry actually LIKE the idea of having this dessicated, leotarded skeleton endorsing him as a nothing more than a vagina? Lenin’s corpse is more lifelike. Speaking of Lenin’s corpse, Robert Redford is a Kerry guy too.

“You bet your bippee” this is true-it’s in NewsMax magazine! Methinks “the fickle finger of fate” has caught up with “our hero” after all these years. Below is the article’s title, with a short excerpt and the link to it. I did make one error above-it’s not from the Left Coast Reports.

“Jane Fonda Takes ‘Vagina Votes’ Campaign to New York”

She’s staging a huge rally with Hollywood “notables” such as Susan Sarandan and others of like persuasion at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem on Sept 13th. The name of her campaign comes from that obscene play “Vagina Monologues”. (Guess she thinks this is “cute” or something???) Anyway, the last paragraph reads below:

“A call to the Kerry campaign for reaction to “Hanoi” Jane’s efforts on his behalf was not returned by press time”. (Wonder why?)

    P.S.
“Herself”- Gloria Steinem - will be at this prestigious event. Guess she doesn’t mind being called a “v”

  15. comment number 15 by: Rhod

    Sharon:

Reference to body parts is almost never a good campaign theme, particularly when the campaigners resemble a bunch of taxidermy samples.

  16. comment number 16 by: Rhod

    Sharon:

Also, when your name becomes a punchline, like “Gloria Steinem”, it’s time to just fade away.

  17. comment number 17 by: Sharon

    Rhod;

It’s old soldiers who fade away–flower children simply go to seed. (And this is a very “seedy” bunch) Anyway, this really does “polish up” Kerry’s patrician image, doesn’t it?

During the primary, my brother finally figured out whom Dean reminded him of: Lee Harvey Oswald. I found Dean’s resemblence really strong with Oswald’s smirking mug shot and with his expression when Ruby shot him. No squinting required.

  19. comment number 19 by: Rhod

    Sean:

I went for a little low humor when I described Dean as rodentian. Your remark is genuine and perceptive. I see it. I can overlay Dean’s face with Oswald’s, and what aligns is the small and peevish pugnacity, the madness working its way through the mouth and eyes; the interior ugliness of both of these spiteful and weak men. Thank you for the comparison. But for a New York fortune and the best of things, Dean would be a shady street punk and nothing more.

I can’t wait to hear the explanation from Kerry’s camp for THIS:

Kerry Citation a “Total Mystery” to ex-Navy Chief by Thomas Lipscomb, Chicago Sun Times 8/28/04

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry’s campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman’s signature.

“It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it.I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me,” he said.

The additional language varied from the two previous citations, signed first by Adm. Elmo Zumwalt and then Adm. John Hyland, which themselves differ. The new material added in the Lehman citation reads in part: By his brave actions, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (jg) Kerry reflected great credit upon himself…”

Asked how the citation could have been executed over his signature without his knowledge, Lehman said: “I have no idea. I can only imagine they were signed by an autopen.” The autopen is a device often used in the routine execution of executive documents in government.

Kerry senior advisor Michael Meehan could not be reached for comment on Kerry’s records.

  21. comment number 21 by: Sharon

PS All three citations are still posted in his service records on the campaign website, as of this evening. (Must be he never watched “America’s Dumbest Criminals” TV show)

    The Medal Mystery Continues………..

B.G. Burkett, the author of the book, “Stolen Valor”, was quoted in NewsMax.com yesterday as saying, The Navy is now saying Kerry’s medals are incorrect”.

And Thomas Lipscomb of the Chicago Sun Times stated yesterday that neither senior advisor Michael Meehan nor veterans advisor John Hurley would answer repeated phone calls for explanation of the mystery.

From the staff of NewsMax.com, here is the complete article:
