No More Dodging – Obama – Conciliator or Tyrant

Posted By John Moore on January 23, 2009

The Wall Street Journal reports that the House is planning witch hunts against the former Bush Administration:

Mr. Conyers’s own notion of civility has included holding no less than 70 hearings into Bush programs. Last year, he and 55 House Democrats demanded the Justice Department appoint a special prosecutor to conduct a criminal investigation into Bush interrogation policies. This year, they expect the incoming administration to finally give them satisfaction.

Mr. Conyers also just introduced legislation to establish a Soviet-style “truth commission” to investigate (for starters) interrogations, wiretapping, Valerie Plame, Iraq intelligence, and the firing of U.S. attorneys. The body would be vested with a big budget and subpoena power. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with no hint of a smirk, explained her party had a duty to the “truth.”

If this happens, and Bush personnel are subjected to this McCarthyite action, all chance for political comity will disappear. I and other conservatives will be furious at the criminalization of policy differences.

Obama’s done a good job of hiding his real intentions. He specifically has been vague on this topic. He will no longer have that choice.

    John:

OT, but I just read your comment over at PJTV to the James Lewis post. In reading literally thousands of posts and comments on AGW, I have never come across a better short description of GCMs and their limitations. You should bulk it up by a page or two and publish it everywhere.

Of course, reading some of the other comments over there, I must sadly conclude: “What would be the point?”

    Good stuff anyway.
