New Challenge for Obama – Yemen Now an Al Qaeda State

Posted By John Moore on February 14, 2009

Yemen is emulating the Taliban’s alliance with Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda received a safe haven in Afghanistan for their operations in return for providing troops and operators to suppress internal enemies. Yemen has now cut the same deal, according to The Long War Journal.

Included in the deal is Yemen’s release of former Guantanamo prisoners held in Yemen’s jails.

The arrangement also allows Al Qaeda operators to gain experience in actual combat and terror operations within the country.

Yemen is the family home of the Bin Laden clan and the site of the 2000 Al Qaeda attack on the USS Cole.

Will we wait for another terrorist attack on our soil before cleaning out this nest of enemies?
