I am not a lawyer, but I wonder if the following clause from the Constitution’s 14th Amendment applies to Kerry [note: emphasis added]
Section 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
[Thanks to Rick for pointing this out]

It is disappointing that the worst of the left and right share my patronymic, Moore.
One the one hand, we have the disgusting leftist moonbat Michael Moore.
And on the other, we have the showboating 10 Commandments wearing wingnut, Justice Roy Moore.
Both are threatening to run for the Presidency. If they do, both will encourage their followers to essentially throw away their votes. P.T. Barnum had it right.
Zonitics rightly observes the idiocy of this action.
So we have the Democrats trying to get the Nader lizard to disappear, and a Moore toad is popping up on the right.
It’s starting to look like a political whack-o-mole game!

College Republicans have been engaging in guerrilla theater, dramatizing the unfairness of Affirmative Action by selling cookies at lower prices to favored groups:
Want to buy a cookie? If you are a white male, that’ll be $1; for white females, 75 cents; blacks, 25 cents. The price structure is the message.
The response by colleges and universities is usually to find an excuse to shut down these satirical acts of free political speech, and even to blame the Republicans for acts of violence and vandalism against them!
This is consistent with the elite view in 2003, during which the Supreme Court, following the whims of Sandra Day (Bull) O’Connor, has twice demonstrated its support for this attitude. First, it enshrined racism in its new disguise of Required Actions of Colleges In Support of Multiculturalism® (abbreviated RACISM). More recently it upheld the Campaign Finance “Reform” Act’s suppression of political speech.
At Fox (where else could this story be told?), Wendy McElroy tells the inspiring story of this latest civil rights trend, where young college students are being harassed and attacked by the modern Bull Conners who are still defending racial discrimination.

Whilethe public has been distracted by the enormous hyperbole focussed on The Patriot Act, the most dangerous attack on American democracy since the Civil War has been upheld by the ImperialSupreme Court: The McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance “Reform”.
It is time to reign in that court, but those who would do so are those who benefit most from its actions! It is time for Arizonans such as myself to fight to replace Senator John McCain, the rather stupid (yes, Arizonans know that McCain is not the brightest bulb) pawn of the media and officeholder special interests. And, of course, it is a tremendous black mark on George Bush’s presidency that he failed to veto this law!
We are also once again ashamed that the swing vote on the court is another confused and arrogant Arizonan, Sandra Day O’Connor!

A woman in the United States has a “right” to an abortion late in the pregnancy by asserting that having the child will harm her health. Usually, this is simply a ruse where the proposed “harm” is to her mental health. But it’s the law, as handed down by our betters at the Supreme Court.
The potential harm caused *by* the abortion to the prospective father’s mental health is ignored. There are many cases where a father has suffered great grief after an his child was aborted, with or without his consent. However, the father has absolutely no rights at all regarding abortion of his offspring.

I originally posted this to Samizdata, a Libertarian blog that is one of my favorite. Thus it is posted from a libertarian perspective, even though I am a conservative.
The crucial points are that there is no way to reason about abortion without invoking moral judgements, and that there are the rights of four different stakeholders to be taken into account.

The left, self righteous advocates of peace and cooperation, never forgive and they never forget their hatred of their enemies. Now, as Ronald Reagan, deep into Alzheimers, is unable to defend himself, they reportedly are preparing a merciless attack on him and his ideas, to be aired on CBS during sweeps season.
This has resulted in a movement to boycott the advertisers of this typical Hollywood left wing product. The boycott web site is BoycottCBS.com.

I nearly finished reading Ann Coulter’s “Treason,” which among other things describes the liberal “anti” crowd’s methods and inanities. The current chapter covers their ways of obstructing the War on Terrorism, more properly called The First Terrorist War. Needless to say, Hollywood idiotarians figure large in this effort.
By coincidence, tonight I watched “Threat Matrix” by those same Hollywood idiots. The blatant subtext was [very timely] how the War on Terrorism is destroying America and hurting innocent Arabs.

The cold war was an incredibly significant period in world history. One would expect major libraries to maintain an extensive collection on this gigantic historical struggle between freedom and communist tyranny. Furthermore, given the shrill statements of librarians, one would hope that censorship would not be one of their favorite activities.
One would be wrong!

The Arizona RepulsiveRepublic reports:
Two commanders at Luke Air Force Base have been relieved of their command after two strippers performed on the base at a ceremony for new pilots.
Yes, obviously the strippers decreased the capability of our military, so we had to do something!
Lt. Col. Anthony Comtois, who led an operations group, and Lt. Col. Leonard Dick, who headed a fighter squadron that was part of Comtois’ group, were removed from their leadership positions.
Let’s see… two officers’ careers ruined. Millions of dollars in training (of those officers) thrown away. Morale in the units damaged.
Six other airmen were also named in the investigation conducted by a military official from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. A spokesman for Luke would not provide details of the incident, laid out in a nearly 3-inch-thick investigative report delivered Friday, but said there was no sexual contact with the strippers.
No wonder we can’t find weapons of mass destruction. Our best investigators are in the Air FarceForce, creating 3 inch reports on a ceremony!
This is Hillary’s revenge. Imagine what would happen to the Air Force with her as the actual Commander In Chief! The feminists started the anti-male witch hunt long ago (remember how many Navy pilots we lost in the “tail-hook” “scandal?”), and it continues.
They just don’t get it! Young men, especially the aggressive hyper-macho types it takes to be good combat fighter pilots, are going to do this kind of thing. Folks may find it distasteful, but I’d rather have a distasteful military than a timid one!
