To Set The Record Straight

How Swift Boat Veterans, POWs and the
New Media Defeated John Kerry

by Scott Swett and Tim Ziegler

Expect one surprise after another in this brilliant and important book. In 2004, John Kerry’s run for the presidency suddenly energized thousands of Vietnam vets. This man, who said his fellow veterans had “raped, cut off ears, cut off heads,…randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan…” wanted to be President! (page 13)

This is the true story of how those vets fought against the vast battalions of the elite media…and against all odds, won. Swett, an insider from the start, and Ziegler nail journalists to the wall time after time. I have never read so many shocking instances of outright bias – or fraud – or stupidity – by the mainstream media.

Early on, the Swift Boat veterans held a historic press conference, where one after another of Kerry’s brothers-in-arms condemned him. You probably didn’t hear about it – it was all but ignored by the media.

“They [Swiftees] assumed that the media would validate their credentials and report their charges to the public. John O’Neill later admitted ‘We were naïve.’ …

“CBS was the only network that did anything, and they did a complete hatchet job…”

“By October, O’Neill no longer had any illusions about what to expect from the old media gatekeepers. The leading liberal networks and newspapers would try to discredit any information harmful to Kerry. Other Swift Vets and POW’s were astonished at the hypocrisy of news organizations they had once admired. While loudly praising the vital role of a free press, the old media imposed a nearly Soviet level of political censorship on the content of news reports.”

When you read the book, you too will be astonished. And you will be amazed at what you never heard, such as the evidence strongly suggesting that John Kerry acted as an agent of the enemy, and that he covered up a less-than-honorable discharge from the Navy.

A CBS report opined “But if you think this is just a concerned group of veterans, think again.” (page 99)

So who were the Swift Boat veterans? This book counters the myths about the vets, who are usually pictured in movies as druggie losers or enraged psychopaths. In particular, it clears up slanders against the Swiftees and their organization, proving they were part of a spontaneous grass roots uprising. The veterans were from all walks of life, Democrat, Republican or just plain ornery.

Expect howls of outrage… expect ad hominem attacks— that the authors are liars and the Swiftees… Bush operatives. Swett and Ziegler give the facts to prove this wrong.

Every practicing journalist in America needs to read this book and then ask and answer some hard questions.

Everyone else in America needs to read it to realize how many times the mainstream media seeks to mislead instead of inform.

You can buy the book directly from the authors here.

Scott Swett, webmaster for The Swift Boat Vets for the Truth, and Tim Ziegler have written a book chronicling the battle between Vietnam Veterans and John Kerry during the 2004 presidential campaign: “To Set The Record Straight”.

Scott is the ultimate insider in this affair, part of the effort from the start and also well connected in the conservative internet world. He was webmaster of both the Swift Boat site and WinterSoldier.com, the authoritative information site on John Kerry.

Check here for information on this book. I now have a copy and will be posting a review when the book becomes generally available for purchase. Let’s just say – you want it – it tells a very important story about how the real grass roots defeated the leftist media establishment.

John O’Neill, the Swiftie spokesman whose photo is on the front cover, was interviewed last year by Useful Fools. That interview, in snippets and in entirety can be heard here.

On Veterans Day, 2006, I had the pleasure of interviewing John O’Neill, well known spokesmen for the Swift-Boat veterans, who played a crucial role in the defeat of John Kerry in 2004. I knew John from my time with the Vietnam Vets for the Truth (VVT) during the 2004 election. The interview was held in Las Vegas where we were both attending a conference on terrorism by America’s Truth Forum, organized by Jeff Epstein, himself a former member of VVT..

The interview covers the formation of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, their motivations and actions. John frankly discusses media bias, the behavior of “Kerry thugs” and a number of related topics, such as how MoveOn.org inadvertently helped the “swifties” – their political enemy.

It is presented in two forms: a series of short clips, and the much longer full interview.

All statements by John O’Neill are his alone, and may not reflect the views of the interviewer, John Moore

UPDATE: A new (12/2007) book documents the Vets vs. Kerry activity in 2004. Check out “To Set The Record Straight” by Scott Swett (SBVT webmaster) and Tim Ziegler. Scott was an insider to the whole thing and tells it like it was.

My wife teaches an after-school class for public school 3rd graders at our church here in Arizona. A few weeks ago, one of the kids told how she could pronounce the name of our governor, Janet Napolitano (D).It turns out her teacher gave out tootsie rolls to kids who learned to say it right. Nobody was talking about her oponent – I guess the kids just automatically know how to pronounce Munsil. Not.
Today, election day, they all wanted to know how my wife had voted. Had she voted for Napolitano? Their teachers had told them everyone should vote for Napolitano.

If this bald electioneering on the public payroll isn’t a crime, it should be! Once again, the teachers have shown that their selfish interests are more important than their sacred trust.

It is this sort of nonsense that causes me to ALWAYS vote against public school district funding – and I did so today.

My mother spent 20 years as a public school math teacher. When my daughter was born, there was one commandment: “No grandchild of mine should ever go to a public school!”

From the Drudge Report:

Teresa Heinz Kerry is openly skeptical about results from November’s election, the SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER reports, particularly in sections of the country where optical scanners were used to record votes.

“Two brothers own 80 percent of the machines used in the United States,” Heinz Kerry said. She identified both as “hard-right” Republicans. She argued that it is “very easy to hack into the mother machines.”

Heinz Kerry did not offer any specific evidence that votes on the machines were altered.

“We in the United States are not a banana republic,” added Heinz Kerry during a fundraiser in Seattle.

“I fear for ‘06,” she said.

We fear for the future also, Teresa, which is why the veterans have not disbanded after we helped defeat your husband, the traitor.

Now we want to stop his re-election in ‘08′
Keep worrying. The Botox people need the money.

Even at this late date, Kerry supporters are threatening, harassing and suing Vietnam veteran activists who helped defeat his presidential bid.Not know is wheter Kerry approves of these actions, but his political future may depend on suppressing or discrediting these former soldiers. He has threatened John O’Neil with a libel/slander suit, to which O’Neil has said “bring it on” – he welcomes the opportunity to air his charges in court where the biased Main Stream Media cannot cherry-pick the facts.

Many of these soldiers witnessed Kerry’s actions in Vietnam. Others are unwilling to let Kerry, part of the treasonous VVAW, who gravely harmed our country and our veterans, continue with his privileges as Senator or become president. Those soldiers proved that Kerry had received medals which he did not deserve (the press has never pushed Kerry to release all of his military records, and he has not done so, leaving unclear how he manipulated the system, and also preventing the final validation of the charge that he received a less-than-honorable discharge, which was replaced in 1978 with an honorable due to the Carter amnesty).

Actions have included picketing individual homes, SLAP lawsuits (a lawsuit where a rich person sues someone not well off, leaving them with the choice of bankruptcy or making a settlement saving face for the plaintiff, background investigations with threats of revealing very private personal information (the so-called “brown folders”), offensive and unbalanced press coverage and intimidation through threats of lawsuits.

Vietnam veterans won the war in the field (twice) and won it again in the ugly political arena last year. We are not even given the freedom to criticize Kerry without facing potentially life ruining oppression.

Now we may have to fight and win yet one more time.

Stay tuned as we get exclusive details on this ongoing last battle of the Vietnam War over the next few weeks.

It’s fair to say that the media this year did its best to unseat George Bush, using deceptive stories, over and under emphasis and every trick in their slimy book.

And George Bush may want to thank them for it.

On May 4, 2004, a previous unknown group, Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth held a historic press conference in Washington, DC. John Kerry’s entire Vietnam chain of command stated that Kerry was unfit to command, a totally unprecedented event. In addition, the group asked John Kerry to release all of his military records, something he still hasn’t done. The SBVT’s primary goal was to keep a man they considered dangerous from becoming president. They also wanted to give the Democratic party a chance to change nominees from this clearly flawed one.

The press reaction was interesting. At the press conference, they showed considerable discomfort when the message became clear. Ultimately, the story was treated as minor, with Kerry spin added to discredit the Swifties’ message, or spiked by the AP, ABC and NBC. See here for detailed media analyis. Needless to say, with press coverage so minor that almost no one remembers it, Kerry remained the nominee.

The press had made its judgment: Kerry was their man. Negative information would not be published.

The reaction of SBVT was to determine how to bypass the press imposed Iron Curtain. They decided to write a book containing their charges about Kerry that would inform people, and create a controversy that the press would have to cover. Somewhat surprisingly, this stratagem worked. It took a while – the book was #1 at Amazon before it was even available (showing the power of Samizdat in countering the US press monopoly). But the press still wasn’t interested. Eventually it became #1 on the New York Times list, and the Swifties released a dramatic advertisement to be broadcast in swing states.

Finally the press reacted. John O’Neil, co-author of the book, was a guest on many shows – often debating a Kerry representative. The commercial was played, allow folks not in the battleground states to see them.

Ultimately the press, using a remarkable double standard, pronounced all of the charges false.

But by then Americans were becoming suspicious of the main stream media (MSM). For many, the charges stuck. For those of us who knew some of the Swift Boat Veterans, the slanderous attacks on them were clearly desperation.

On November 2, the people spoke, roundly defeating the press by re-electing Bush and increasing Republican representation in the house and senate.

What if the press had treated the original charges as something as historic and important as they were? We might have had a different Democrat nominee, who might have won.

The MSM was too smart and dishonest. They defeated themselves.

And for that, I’m grateful.

But I’d be a lot happier if they were honest to begin with.

There are many powerful organizations that want to kick Bush out of office. They are showing their hands with their “October Surprises.”

First, we have Mohammed El Baradei, head of the IAEA. Bush, if re-elected, will have him replaced and he knows it. He appears to be the source of athe missing explosives story..

Then we have the New York Times, a leftist remnant of what used to be a great newspaper. They and CBS jumped all over the “missing explosives” story. Before they had enough information to actually know what happened, they were scaring the public by associating this theft with nuclear weapons. The evidence shows that most likely the explosives were removed by Russian Spetznaz troops right before the war, as reported by Bill Gertz, one of the best reporters on national security issues. Meanwhile, Kerry is running around saying Bush was careless to let 380 tons out of 600,000 tons get away. Bush is saying Kerry has poor judgment in his rush to condemn, and Bush is right. ABC says there were only 3 tons of RDX at the site, not 377 tons.

Al Qaeda certainly doesn’t want to miss their chance, so they produced a blood-chilling video tape saying that if Bush is re-elected, blood will run in our streets and we will forget 9-11. However, they didn’t mention their proclivity for killing people no matter what we do, and that if Kerry is elected, they will still try to make blood run in our streets. These guys don’t have a life – they are death nerds – and all they can think about is killing.

Another one that the media amplifiers are just discovering is a report in the Lancet, a prestigious British medical journal. Just by coincidence, they announced a new study (by Johns Hopkins) that shows 100,000 Iraqis were killed by Americans since the end of major hostilities. The International Herald Tribune reports:Editors of the journal decided not to wait for Lancet’s normal publication date next week, but instead to place the research online Friday, conveniently close to the election. The study’s authors are Americans.

Les Roberts, the lead researcher from Johns Hopkins, said the article’s timing was up to him.

“I emailed it in on Sept. 30 under the condition that it came out before the election,” Roberts told The Associated Press. “My motive in doing that was not to skew the election. My motive was that if this came out during the campaign, both candidates would be forced to pledge to protect civilian lives in Iraq.

Does anyone believe that motive? I don’t, especially when you read more of his words:

“I was opposed to the war and I still think that the war was a bad idea, but I think that our science has transcended our perspectives,” Roberts said. “As an American, I am really, really sorry to be reporting this.”

I’m sorry you are reporting it also, because your methodology is inadequate. Furthermore, your insistence on having it come out before the election can only be considered a sign of extreme bias. Since you timed your study to damage Bush, is there the slightest reason we should believe that your study is correct? Why does it produce a number five times the upper bound of the opinion of experts?

The results don’t pass the smell test. The study itself is flawed, which is sad since it came from my daughter’s alma mater. It trusts the reports of Iraqis, many of whom had an incentive to lie – for example, those in Fallujah ini the zone where the rebels are located.. Many Iraqis had an incentive to exaggerate the deaths. The result is a study where the results are automatically skewed high.

The deaths were attirbuted mostly to airstrikes, and yet a small percentage of Iraqis are in areas where post-war air strikes have been done.

The total number of Iraqis surveyed was small. These sorts of studies are common on medical issues, but on political issues they are harder.

The study’s lead author:

“This isn’t about individual soldiers doing bad things. This appears to be a problem with the approach to occupation in Iraq,” Roberts said.

This guy has an axe to grind. He opposed the war, he thinks the occupation is being done wrong even though we are using measures designed to minimize deaths of innocents, and he put his article out just in time to influence the election, but too late for much debate. This is a classic knife in the back to Bush. The conflict of interest of the author destroys the credibility of the study. Other experts are already criticising it, saying the numbers should be 10,000 to 20,000.

Count on this to be a big story designed to hurt George Bush, even though independent exprts from organizations like

I wonder how many more last minute surprises they are going to come up with?

He left Vietnam after four months on the day his first purple heart (which showed up third) was awarded.

An Open Letter to Senator John McCain from a Vietnam Veteran

    Senator McCain,

I begin this missive with an embrazo, as we call it here in Texas, for your service to our country, as a warrior, as a prisoner of war and as a United States Senator. You have served far better and endured far more in the service of America than most men will ever do. For that, this old sergeant salutes you.

That said, as a Vietnam ground combat veteran, I must take issue with you on the situation of John Kerry and the Swift Boat Veterans. You have labeled these men “dishonest and dishonorable,” and that, Sir, is nothing more than your opinion based on no direct knowledge of the events they dispute. For you to so condemn these men publicly, without any firsthand knowledge of John Kerrys performance in their midst and under their professional observation, is unfair to them and all veterans who share their view that John Kerry is unfit to command. Who was best qualified to evaluate you as a naval aviator, those senior officers who flew with you or the enlisted men who serviced your aircraft? Who had the experience, training and knowledge to make a professional military judgment of your performance in the air, the trained naval aviators on your wing or the enlisted flight crew back on the carrier? Certainly the enlisted men were vital in performing the mission but observing and rating your performance was not their role.

It is my understanding that you originally shared our animosity towards John Kerry, but during your senatorial service, you came to know John Kerry more personally and chose to forgive him for his labeling you a war criminal. That you are able to forgive a man even though he had denounced you and your fellow aviators as you languished in North Vietnamese prisons, with your captors using his testimony to try to break your will, is truly commendable. I admire you for your ability to turn the other cheek. However, I must point out that your forgiveness of John Kerry is purely personal and imposes not one iota of obligation to forgive him on those of us who still consider him contemptible.

You carry no mandate to speak for us. Your personal feelings are yours and yours alone; but, emphatically, you do not speak for us. You spoke up to defend your friend and your friend has turned your words into talking points. It is truly reprehensible how the Kerry campaign and the mainstream media are hiding so cynically behind your condemnation of the Swiftvets, using your statement as an excuse to dismiss their claims as baseless, smear politics. Honestly, Senator, did you really intend to provide this kind of cover for those who are so desperate to prevent the truth from coming out?

With all do respect, since you werent there to observe John Kerry first hand as were these Swiftvets, may I humbly suggest that the honorable thing for you to do, is to stay out of this fight and allow them and us to have our voice. Moreover, there is one thing you could do to level the playing field: acknowledge that you have no true knowledge of events the Swiftvets describe and that your immediate condemnation of these men was premature. Call on the mainstream media to investigate all parties fairly and determine whose version of events is true. I understand John Kerry is your friend, but that places him neither beyond accountability nor above the truth. You have a unique ability at this moment in Americas history to make a difference. You have long been a dutiful warrior and servant of the people.

    Please, do your duty now.

John Kerry feels the pain of those in the path of Hurricane Charley.

John Kerry told survivors that he too had been in a Hurricane, while George Bush had not.Kerry reported for the first time a secret mission that put him in a Hurricane[*] on his Swift Boat in Vietnam (or maybe Cambodia – he’s not sure). The purpose was to put an undercover special forces weatherman as close to the eye as possible, to evaluate the use of Hurricanes[*] as weapons. Kerry said he was personally ordered to this mission by Chuck Colson of the Nixon Administration, just before Christmas, 1968, while recovering from his wounds from Cam Rahn Bay that earned him his first purple heart. Admitting that the use of Hurricanes as weapons of war was a war crime, Kerry said “we all did war crimes, day by day, with the full knowledge of our superiors at all level. So what’s the big deal?”

Given the high level of antipathy towards Kerry from the officers and men who fought with hiim, the loyalty of all but one surviving Kerry crew member has been a mystery.

These are the guys who are with Kerry at campaign stops, and who spoke up for him at the convention. They include all but one of his surviving former crewman. The one remaining crew member, Steven Gardmer is a member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the 250 strong group of Kerry’s fellow warriors now disputing Kerry’s accuracy and honesty.

So if so many hold Kerry in contempt, why do his crew members support him? A strong motivation can be found in an old Boston Globe article…

From Michael Kranish’s account in the Boston Globe:

Kerry’s early departure meant that he was leaving behind a crew that had suffered through many bloody battles with him. Worried that crew members would be killed, he arranged for them to receive a safer assignment. When one crew member, Medeiros, tried to stay, Kerry “came and talked to me and said, `I really would like you to go. … I’d like to know you are safe, or safer.”‘

So Kerry got these guys out of dangerous combat early. Now that’s a heck of a favor (and clever planning for a future political career)! Is that the motive of the Kerry followers? Compare their views with that of over 250 other Swifties who are against Kerry. Compare it to every single officer who commanded Kerry, all of whom signed a letter proclaiming him unfit for command.

Then we have one more supporter: Mr. Rassman, who at the time was a Special Forces officer that Kerry rescued. According to the citation, the rescue was under fire, and Mr. Rassman agrees. But other Swifties who were there say there was no enemy fire – only outbound covering fire. It seems plausible that Mr. Rassman, from his perspective in the water, mistook the noise and confusion to including incoming fire. Swifties as high as 14 feet above the water, whose job it was to return fire, reported none. This sounds like an honest mistake caused by a different circumstances?

By the way, if you are a Vietnam Veteran or supporter, please help us at Vietnam Vets for the Truth. Thank you.

On the one side we have former Commander George Elliott who claims that the Globe’s Michael Kranish misquoted him as retracting his charges against John Kerry. George Elliott is a combat veteran.

On the other side, we have Michael Kranish, who has long written about Kerry, should know his subject well, and yet reported that Kerry received an Honorable Discharge in 1970, conveniently before most of his anti-war activities. In fact, as was revealed when some of Kerry’s military records were posted, Kerry didn’t get his Discharge until 1978, and thus was in the Navy Reserve from 1970 until 1978, including the years he met with the enemy and defamed his “brothers in arms” and all Vietnam Vets. Oh, and apparently until it came out, Kranish was going to write the intro to the campaign book for Kerry/Edwards.

I know where my trust would go.

The Swift Boat Vets for the Truth have been attacked by many in the media, including those not usually favorable to John Kerry, for running a powerful advertisement about John Kerry.

John Kasich on Fox News said the ad should be pulled. John McCain, our woolly headed Senator, had harsh words for it, even though it was a direct result of McCain’s campaign finance bill (which takes away our 1st amendment rights). O’Reilly thought it was despicable. Others have made similar comments.

What the hell is wrong with these people? What rule did the Swifties violate? All they did was provide their personal experience and opinion. Where is the equivalent condemnation of those on the left who accused Bush of all sorts of things – false charges?

The men making the ad fought in Vietnam and knew John Kerry. They have opinions and information about Kerry that contradict’s Kerry’s carefully prepared image, which was heavily based on his short tour in Vietnam. The critics aren’t a group rounded up by political operatives. This is a true grass roots organization.

Horrors! The politicians thought they had gotten rid of annoying citizens by tinkering with campaign finance rules.

The Swifties annoyed the press because they bypassed them. They ran an ad that the press could not ignore, and they aren’t part of a campaign. Even worse, the ad is extremely powerful, and it addresses the character of a candidate. They didn’t play by the rules, and as a result those to whom politics is a big game, with citizens not allowed, condemned their efforts.

Apparently only “issues” are valid subjects. The idea that a person of bad character is unlikely to carry out his promises is ignored. The idea that a person of bad character shouldn’t be president never occurs to our media betters. Thus the subject of character is apparently banned from our political discourse.

Who wrote the rules?

If you see some idiot commentator trashing the Swifties for running their ad, write them a letter or email and tell them what you think. I say that those men earned the right to comment on Kerry the hard way, and they are exercising their rights as citizens. Never have I seen a private, grass-roots group as vilified as the Swifties. It is wrong and if the commentators have more knowledge of Kerry, perhaps they should tell us about their time on Swift Boats. Let them know the rules have changed. When citizens, combat veterans at that, put out information in a campaign, it’s not only okay, but it’s important to honor what they have to say. Citizens count, even though this has apparently been forgotten.

More is coming. Vietnam Veterans are going after Kerry’s lies that he told about us. We are having a rally in DC on September 12th. We are going to talk about Kerry too. And it isn’t going to be pretty, because he slimed us and more. If you know a Vietnam Vet, let him know about the link just above.

VIETNAM VETS FOR THE TRUTH NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Recently an ad hoc group of Vietnam veterans, Vietnam Vets for the Truth (VVT), broke a story that the Internet samizdat has broadcast across the nation. It was the account of the esteem in which the Vietnamese communists hold John Kerry because of the efforts he made on their behalf during the Vietnam War. Focal point of the article was a photo of Senator Kerry conversing with the chairman of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, a photo which hangs in a room honoring foreigners who contributed to the communist victory in Vietnam.

A courageous American visiting Vietnam was responsible for taking these fascinating photos, making several trips back to the War Crimes Museum at the request of VVT. His activities aroused the suspicion of the Vietnamese authorities sufficiently for them to assign an agent to follow him on his travels. Upon his return to the States, this Vietnam veteran will provide more detail about what he saw.

VVT is involved in a number of activities besides the Saigon Photo story. Its centerpiece operation is the planning and execution of the Kerry Lied Rally, an event that will draw the attention of all Americans to the lies John Kerry told about US servicemen and women during the Vietnam War. Featured in the Rally will be a number of speakers whose lives were directly affected by Kerrys lies.

Another activity is Operation Kerry Lied, an effort in which local activists are assisted in assembling and displaying information in their hometowns about the lies Kerry told. In most cases, those activists are Vietnam veterans.

Jeffrey M. Epstein, VVTs Media Affairs Director, notes that the organization has initiated a major fund-raising campaign to enable it to accomplish its mission of exposing John Kerrys lies to the American public. Says Epstein: It would be a tragedy of monumental proportions if the truth about John Kerry is not told because of a lack of funds. VVTs effectiveness will be in direct proportion to the financial support we receive. We encourage all Vietnam veterans to hold Kerry accountable by contributing any amount, large or small.

Help Spread the Word!

As a Vietnam Veteran, I believe that this information needs to be provided to all Americans. We didn’t serve so that a an enemy sympathizer and propagandist would become President of the Country he hurt so badly. I have joined Vietnam Vets for the Truth, and you can help us. We need donations (see the web page), we need volunteers to put out the word, and we need folks to go to our September 12 rally.

THE KERRY STORY

Looks Good if you Believe The Media
To veterans and military people, Kerry seems like a good bet: A war hero (he’ll tell you that if you listen 5 seconds), a long time Senator and a Vietnam Veteran. He has a number of what he calls his “brothers in arms” at every campaign stop.

Only The Good is Reported
But this is a very misleading look at John Kerry. His real record is of somebody no serviceman would want in his unit, and no American would want in charge of the country.

The Real John Kerry – Damage to Vietnam Veterans and His Country
But although all of this is public record, most Americans and too many veterans don’t know the true depth to which this man descended in his quest for office in the early 70s, the lies he told to all that slandered every one of us who participated in the Vietnam War, that caused many Vietnam Veterans to be unable to get jobs and others to be considered as potential nut cases, while our great nation’s reputation was dragged through the mud, mud that clings to Vietnam Veterans, every serviceman from that time until today, and most importantly, to the reputation of our country.

The Real Kerry – Slandering Veterans and our Country
How many Americans and Vietnam Veterans know that while our POWs were in the Hanoi Hilton, Kerry was traipsing around the country, slandering all American soldiers and our country’s reputation. [NOTE to skeptics: The link is to an article which contains a link to the original CSAN transcript of Kerry's charges when made, to the US Senate]

The Real John Kerry – Used in Anti-American Propaganda This Month
How many Americans know that just this month, the communist Vietnamese government attacked US policy in Iraq, in an article which” proved” that the United States fought using atrocities as a daily routine event, using the name and quotes from John Kerry. [NOTE: the article linked is on a web site in Vietnam, run by the Vietnamese News Service, controlled by the Vietnamese Government]

The Real John Kerry – POWs Don’t Want Him Elected
How many know that Hanoi Hilton POWs have written letters (Jim Warner, Joe Crecca, Admiral and former Senator Jeremiah Denton)asking people not to vote for Kerry. Among other things, Kerry’s speeches were played by their captors to demoralize the POWs.

The Real John Kerry – Dictators Want Him Elected
Leaders in the tyranical regime of Vietnam think we should elect John Kerry.

The Real John Kerry – Honored by Vietnamese for Helping the Communists Win
How many know that the communist tyranny in Vietnam has Kerry’s picture in a place of honor – a room dedicated to foreigners who helped the communist victory. [We have had direct contact with the person who took these pictures, and some of the ones showing context were taken on our request.]

The Real John Kerry – Denounced by his Chain of Command and 200 Fellow Swift Boaters
How many realize that those who knew Kerry best, all of his commanders up to the CINCPAC, and 200 other Swift Boat sailors gave a press conference and signed a letter claiming that Kerry was unfit to be Commander in Chief? Additional Report

The Real John Kerry – Trying to Hide The Stain of his Perfidy
How many know that Kerry himself views his anti-war activities so harmful to his presidential bid that he covered up the fact that he was an officer in the US Naval Reserve the whole time, including when he met with the enemy? He even got the Boston Globe to publish that he was given an honorable discharge in 1970, when he didn’t actually get one until 1978. [I disccovered this coverup in process. Several of us were curious about why his public biography had a 2 year gap in service. Now we know. The Boston Globe article still has the false discharge date – you can find it, and then compare it to the military records on John Kerry’s own web site.

Where to Keep Track of the Truth about John Kerry
For up-to-date complete information on Kerry’s war and anti-war record, see wintersoldier.com. See Vietnam Vets for the Truth for news and activism information. Keep an eye on this blog for updates also.

Breaking through the Media Iron Curtainl – We Need Your Help
We are determined that even in the face of the Iron Curtain of the pro-Kerry press, the truth will come out. Americans and especially veterans need to understand that John Kerry slandered our nation and our veterans, and that the stain remains to this day on us and our nation. We insist that the media show the truth.

If you can help, please contact your local TV stations, talk and news radio, and your local newspaper, and ask them why Americans are not being told the truth. It is best if you send a fax or make a telephone call, not just email. Please let others, especially Vietnam Veterans know about this site and the other two given here.

If you think American democracy functions best when both sides are heard, please help. Kerry has the support of leftist billionaire George Soros and the pro-Kerry press. Whe have nothing except you and those you inform.

Please Let Us Know About Your Efforts
Finally, if you make the effort, please let us know what you did and how it worked out. You can leave a comment at the “contact” entry here.

Please Help Vietnam Vets for the Truth
Again, we need your help – you can donate and you can find out about our programs at Vietnam Vets for the Truth.

Thank you very much.
